Oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy. (Deep breath) Xander Bogaerts, Red Sox uber-prospect, will make his major league debut in San Francisco tonight when Boston takes on the Giants. Bogaerts, 20, will play shortstop - in place of Stephen "Don't Call Me J.D." Drew and bat eighth. The young Aruban is the Shortstop of the Future for the Sox - now that that other guy is playing in Detroit. As noted by Boston Herald scribe Scott Lauber, Bogaerts tonight will be the youngest Red Sox player to make his debut in the majors since 20-year-old Dwight Evans was called up in 1972. Bogaerts had been batting .284 with nine home runs and 32 RBI's in 60 games for the Pawtucket Red Sox this season. Here's Bogaerts talking about taking part in his second Futures Game at the All Star Game earlier this summer. Your browser does not support iframes.
