The Boston Red Sox have agreed to a minor league contract with Vicente Padilla, according to the Associated Press. Padilla is a 34-year old right-handed pitcher coming off a neck injury that caused him to miss nearly all of the 2011 season. Padilla is 104-90 with a 4.31 ERA in a 13-year career with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Philadelphia Phillies, Texas Rangers, and Los Angeles Dodgers. He was an All-Star for the Phillies in 2002, going 14-11 with a 3.28 ERA in 206 innings pitched. Padilla will try to work his way into the rotation for the Sox this year.
