A source close to Ed Price of AOL FanHouse tells him that that the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees both have “big-time” interest in Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Scott Downs.
Downs, a left-hander is making $4 million this season and has a 2.56 ERA. He’s particularly effective against left-handers, who are hitting just .208 against him. Earlier this month, the Philadelphia Phillies also had interest in the lefty. One thing to note is that Downs will likely be a Type-A free agent after the season.
