This is more about nostalgia than anything impacting the New York Mets at this point. John Maine last pitched for the New York Mets in 2010, but he hasn’t exactly been useful since 2008 – and even then he only logged 140 innings. He was a pretty nice piece in 2006 and 2007 though. Without John Maine the New York Mets and their decimated starting rotation may not have been able to make it out of the 2006 NLDS and onto Game 7 of the NLCS. As you would probably guess, the deal with the Boston Red Sox is of the minor league variety.
