The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees are reportedly two of the front runners to sign Los Angeles Dodgers free agent pitcher, Hiroki Kuroda, within the next few weeks. Both teams could use another starting pitcher to add to their weak rotations, but Kuroda will not come cheaply. Word initially came out that Kuroda would only re-sign with the Dodgers or return to Japan. But with an asking price now believed to be around $12 to $13 million annually, it is expected that he will sign with whatever MLB team willing to pony up enough money. The Red Sox and Yankees may be the favorites to land Kuroda, but they are not the only teams involved in the discussions. ESPN analyst Jim Bowden says that along with those two teams, that the Arizona Diamondbacks, Los Angeles Angels and Detroit Tigers remain in on the talks for Kuroda.
