In the first inning of Friday's Yankees-Mariners game, Curtis Granderson pulled a 1-0 pitch from Kevin Millwood foul to the right side of the field. A fan tried to field it. But instead of fielding it, he fell on the field, and he took some of the stands with him. In slow motion, from another angle. He and his friends were amused. Curtis Granderson was also amused. And now you are amused. The fan, by the way, did not get the ball.

Yankees’ Facebook page hacked, said Derek Jeter would miss season with sex change operation

The New York Yankees’ Facebook page was hacked on Thursday afternoon and the hacker left a rather hilarious message. As seen above, the message told fans that Derek Jeter would miss the rest of the season to have a sex change operation and that he would be back next season as Minnie Mantlez. As website owners we obviously frown upon hacking, but if you’re going to break into...

Cashman Says The Roster Is Just Fine

From Pete Caldera:Amid the executive offices at Yankee Stadium, there were no pangs of remorse as the non-waiver trade deadline passed. The Yankees’ motivation to add a prime player could be summed up in a few words. "Only if it fell into our lap," said general manager Brian Cashman, asserting the stance that valuable prospects in the low minors and millions of...

Yankee Stadium debuts Ichiro-inspired food

If anything can be taken from Ichiro Suzuki’s stint thus far with the New York Yankees, it’s that the 38 year old star still has some left in the tank. Apparently the Yanks feel quite good about acquiring him, and are now paying tribute to him with his own food dish at Yankee Stadium. MLB.com reported that the “Suzuki Roll” has made its debut, much to the delight of fans...

Letter to the Editor: Let performance dictate usage!

Buffalo News (New York) July 29, 2012 Dear Editor,The Yankees have lost quite a few games that could have been won without a pitching change. It happened again Sunday in Oakland. It seems manager Joe Girardi often leaves pitchers in too long or takes them out too soon.Example: A relief pitcher or set-up man comes in and retires the side with no problems. He is removed after one...

Yankeetorial: Ichiro can't change the Yankees. But could we change him?

Here’s how it plays out in the Brad Pitt movie: It’s the ninth inning of game seven, the 2012 World Series. Yanks down by one. The Giants’ evil Matt Cain – portrayed by a CGI-enhanced Mark Ruffalo - is firing a shutout. Around the globe, children of every ethnicity and Higgs boson-collision-angle hug their electronic devices in rapt attention, as Ichiro – (Brad) - trudges...

The Quiet Performance Of Hiroki Kuroda

When Felix Hernandez throws a 1-0, complete game, two-hit shut-out, that is about all you’ll hear about from that game. However, if you look at who threw against Hernandez you’ll find that Hiroki Kuroda held his own against the former Cy Young winner. Kuroda went 6 and 1/3 scattering 7 hits while giving up only 1 run. Kuroda walked just one Mariner while striking out four demonstrating...

Breaking News: Derek Jeter will not miss the rest of 2012 because of a sex change

The New York Yankees’  Facebook account churned out a personal status about Derek Jeter Thursday: Well, how about that? The athlete with the hands down most impressive notches on his bed posts decided to throw away the rest of 2012 to switch teams. He wasn’t part of a waiver wire deal, but according to the Yanks, he wanted to trade in his cup for a sports bra.  Jetes likes...

Yankees 6, Mariners 3

CC Sabathia pitched a three-hitter and struck out 10, dominating the Mariners as usual while leading the New York Yankees to a 6-3 victory Friday night that stopped Seattle's seven-game winning streak. Eric Chavez hit a two-run homer and Curtis Granderson had a two-run single off Kevin Millwood, sending the AL East leaders to their second consecutive win following a 3-9 slide...

Locke Wins Pitching Duel, Strikes Out 10

Indianapolis Indians  2.  Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees  0 (Box)   Jeff Locke earned his 9th win of the season and struck out 10 batters. One day after the Indians posted 21 hits in their hit-o-rama, they were limited to just 4 hits tonight against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees, playing at Frontier Field in Rochester, NY.  Those 4 hits were all the Tribe needed, though. ...

BP Unfiltered: Efficient Felix by Ben Lindbergh

On Saturday afternoon, Felix Hernandez shut out the Yankees at Yankee Stadium, allowing two hits and two walks and striking out six. That in itself is a very impressive achievement, given that the Yankees have scored the third-most runs per game in baseball this season, and also given that Yankee Stadium is not a particularly pleasant place to pitch. (The Yankees had averaged over...

Mariners 1, Yankees 0

Felix Hernandez dominated the Yankees in their own ballpark again, pitching his third shutout of the season to lead the Seattle Mariners to a 1-0 win on a sunny, sticky Saturday afternoon. Hernandez outpitched Hiroki Kuroda in a duel of pitchers who haven't lost since June. Mike Carp hit an RBI single in the second inning for Seattle, which bounced back from having its seven...

Mariners-Yankees Preview

The Seattle Mariners have won a season-high seven straight games, while CC Sabathia has won his last seven starts against them in dominating fashion. The New York Yankees ace looks to continue his mastery of the Mariners in the opener of a three-game set in the Bronx on Friday night. Seattle (50-57) lost two of three at home to New York (61-43) from July 23-25, with the Yankees...
