After losing Dallas Braden for the season the A’s got a nice spoon full of worse news. Both Brandon McCarthy and Tyson Ross are lost for at least 15 days. McCarthy with a shoulder injury and Ross with a strained oblique. I’m not sure how the news could get any worse, other than losing both players for an extended period of time. So far I haven’t heard a peep about who will be brought in to replace the two starting pitchers. My guess is you will see the A’s bring up one pitcher at a time and bring back reliever Joey Devine to strengthen the pen. There are two ways the A’s can go about bringing up a starter. Either they can bring up a veteran pitcher like Josh Outman, who has struggled in the minors since coming back from TJ surgery, or they can bring up a young buck like Graham Godfry, who has been very good for the River Cats.
