The Braves aren't waiting around for Cubs RHP Ryan Dempster Atlanta Braves General Manager, Frank Wren, told a local sports talk radio station this morning that his team has “moved on” from the Ryan Dempster deal. In an interview on 680 The Fan in Atlanta, Wren said the parameters for the deal “expired yesterday”. Chicago Cubs ace Ryan Dempster was believed to be near the top of the Braves’ wishlist, and on Monday, it was reported by several media outlets that a deal had been finalized to bring Dempster to Atlanta. However, this apparently came as news to  veteran right-handed starting pitcher, who stated on his Twitter account “THERE IS NO TRADE. I don’t know where this info came from”. As Frank Wren confirmed in the interview, a deal for Dempster was in fact in place, but in this case, the player must sign off on the trade, which never happened. Dempster has “10-5″ no-trade authority. That means that as a player with 10 years of MLB experience and 5 years with his current team, h

Ryan Dempster throws tantrum in Cubs dugout

Chicago Cubs pitcher Ryan Dempster threw a tantrum as he returned to the dugout at the end of the sixth inning after giving up the go-ahead run in Wednesday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Dempster took the lid off a cooler and slammed it on the ground, then flung the cooler itself, sending ice everywhere. To finish it off, Dempster took a bottle of lemon-lime sports...

Source: Dempster does not want trade to Braves -- at least now

Chicago Cubs right-hander Ryan Dempster does not want to be traded to the Atlanta Braves, according to major-league sources. At least not right now. Dempster, as a player with 10 years of major-league service, the last five with the same team, has the right to block a trade to the Braves. The pitcher instead wants to be sent to the Los Angeles Dodgers, who were unable to reach...

Looking back at Ryan Dempster’s Cubs career

In August 2003 Ryan Dempster underwent Tommy John surgery while a member of the Cincinnati Reds. The Reds released him in November that year and the Cubs signed him as a free agent on January 21st, 2004. The Cubs were a contender at this time and while Dempster would not be ready to start the season, he could provide some help in the bullpen late in the season. On August 1st Dempster...

Ryan Dempster holding up trade to Braves … because he can

Reports on Monday said that Ryan Dempster was going to be traded to the Braves, but as Dempster wrote on his Twitter account, that was incorrect. The deal, which would have sent Dempster to Atlanta for Randall Delgado, is on hold because Dempster has the power to block it. Dempster is a “10/5″ player, which means he’s been in the majors for 10 years and has spent the last...

He recently had a streak of over 30 consecutive scoreless...

Marlins going for back-to-back wins vs. Braves

The Atlanta Braves may be in search of an offensive spark, but they appear to be close to landing an impact piece for their rotation. With a potential trade for Ryan Dempster seemingly in the works, Tim Hudson looks to continue his dominance of the Miami Marlins and help the Braves snap a three-game skid Tuesday night. Atlanta (52-44) has totaled four runs and batted .181 during...
