Glavine Released ESPN.com’s Buster Olney reports that the Atlanta Braves released 43-year-old pitcher Tom Glavine on Wednesday, one day after he declared himself ready to pitch in the majors following a minor league rehab start. Braves G.M. Frank Wren said the move was not related to a $1 million bonus that the 305 game winner would have received for being placed on the major league roster. "This was not a business decision," Wren said. "This was a performance decision." The Braves are calling up top pitching prospect Tommy Hanson to start Saturday against the Milwaukee Brewers, and Glavine is now deciding whether or not he wants to attempt to resume his career. "We gave him the option, if you want to retire, you can retire as a Brave," Wren said. He asked us to release him.
