In late breaking news Monday, the Chicago White Sox have acquired outfielder Alex Rios from the Toronto Blue Jays in a straight waiver claim. What that means, according to media outlets, is that the White Sox are sending the Blue Jays roughly $20,000 in exchange for Rios. No players, no prospects. Just cash. More news will undoubtedly follow, especially for the White Sox who now have a crowded outfield to deal with moving forward. The Sox are currently chasing the Detroit Tigers in the American League Central division. Rios joins veterans Jermaine Dye, Scott Podsednik and Carlos Quentin in the Sox outfield. Quentin has been hurt for much of the 2009 season, but was a contender for last years AL MVP award. While no Sox fan will soon forget that it was Dwayne Wise that robbed Gabe Kapler of a home run to preserve Mark Buehrle's perfect game, it seems that Wise will likely be the odd-man out. Rios brings a lot of talent and an even bigger contract to Chicago. For more on this story...
