Why New York Yankees fans are learning about karma

A. J. Burnett (Photo credit: Wikipedia) Whoever said that AJ Burnett couldn’t pitch should be putting their foot back in their mouth, as he could very well win the NL CY Young this season. I have always been a Burnett fan since his days with the Florida Marlins; so I was thrilled when the Yankees signed him in 2009 and went on to win the World Series that season. Burnett had his...

Derek Jeter Watches U.S. Women's Soccer Edge Canada, Asks if Game Could Be Shown Near Batting Cages

The Yankees looked pretty bad against the Tigers on Monday night, striking out 14 times and mustering no earned runs against Detroit's Justin Verlander. But don't give the reigning American League MVP and Cy Young winner all of the credit in this one. The Yankees may have been a little distracted coming in. Derek Jeter seemed reticent to head to batting practice Monday. His...

Yanks In The Playoffs: Some Thoughts On Those Painful First-Round Exits

Last night, as the Yankees moved closer to losing their second straight game to the Detroit Tigers, a thought popped into my head that I am sure would be considered almost blasphemous had a Yankee fan known I was thinking it. (Actually, I tweeted it, but it seems to have gone unnoticed.) Here's the thought:Why even bother trying to make the playoffs if you're always going...
