Found September 28, 2013 on Baseball Hot Corner:
Toronto Blue Jays‘ Brett Lawrie took a pitch in the kisser cutting the third baseman’s lip and mouth. Lawrie refused to exit the game and even stole second base after the beaning. The 23-year old later tweeted out a photo of his swollen lips, looks like he was talking when he should have been listening. It’s all part of it pic.twitter.com/vBaumES1Fg — Brett Lawrie (@blawrie13) September 28, 2013   The post Brett Lawrie Takes Ball In The Kisser And Remains In Game appeared first on Baseball Hot Corner.

J.P. Arencibia And His Precarious Job

I’ve been a supporter of J.P. Arencibia (JPA) over his Blue Jays tenure up until very recently. The guy has power, pitches in with the community, wants so badly to do well, and is just a nice, general good guy. The ladies like him too, which gives him additional appeal with a subsection of the fan base. With that being said, since the end of August, he’s been absolutely brutal...

Evaluating RA Dickey’s first season in Toronto

Toronto Blue Jays RHP RA Dickey has completed his first season as a starting pitcher in Canada. Even though he has plenty of experience pitching in the American League in his days in Texas, Minnesota and Seattle, this was his first AL season after redefining himself as a knuckleball pitcher. If the question was openly asked, “RA Dickey’s first season in Toronto, was it a success...

Blue Jays' Mark Buehrle exits with calf injury

Stop me when you've heard this before. A member of the Toronto Blue Jays has sustained an injury. When it comes to the Blue Jays, even the most durable players won't go unscathed. Mark Buehrle would certainly fall into that category, but the left-hander was forced to exit last night's start early after taking a line drive off his right calf. It was Buehrle's last...

Last-place Blue Jays finish at 74-88

Starting pitching was a problem all season for the Toronto Blue Jays, and game 162 was no exception. Todd Redmond was knocked out before the end of Tampa Bay's six-run first inning and the Rays held on to beat the Blue Jays 7-6 on Sunday, clinching a tie for an AL wild-card berth. A season that began with high hopes of ending a two-decade playoff drought soon turned sour in...

Toronto Blue Jays: Injuries keep piling up

It was not a stellar week for the Toronto Blue Jays. Toronto lost three out of four games and the injuries keep coming. Before I get to anything else, I want to apologize to the readers for an error I made in my last article.  I reported that the Jays had a day off just before Toronto faced the Baltimore Orioles.  To my surprise’ the Jays had to play a game against the Chicago...

RA Dickey leads Blue Jays over Rays 6-3

R.A. Dickey finished a difficult and disappointing season with a win. Dickey slowed Tampa Bay's stretch run, leading the Toronto Blue Jays to a 6-3 victory Friday night that stopped the Rays' seven-game winning streak. Dickey (14-13) allowed two runs and five hits in 7 1-3 innings, retiring 13 of 14 during one stretch. The 38-year-old knuckleballer, acquired from the New...

JA Happ leads Blue Jays over Rays 7-2

J.A. Happ has been through a lot this season. Facing the team that made his year so tough, he went out a winner. Happ won for the first time in four starts, Ryan Goins and Kevin Pillar hit two-run homers and the Blue Jays beat Tampa Bay 7-2 Saturday, dropping the Rays into a tie with Texas for the second AL wild-card berth. Happ spent almost three months on the disabled list after...

Rays see win streak snapped in series opener at Blue Jays

TORONTO (AP) -- R.A. Dickey slowed Tampa Bay's stretch run, leading the Toronto Blue Jays to a 6-3 victory Friday night that stopped the Rays' seven-game winning streak. Tampa Bay wasted a 2-0 lead and committed a season-high three errors, including a pair by two-time Gold Glove third baseman Evan Longoria. The Rays began the night with a magic number of two over Texas for...

Rays drop 2nd straight to Blue Jays, fall into WC tie

TORONTO (AP) -- The Tampa Bay Rays dropped into a tie with Texas for the second AL wild-card berth, losing to Toronto 7-2 Saturday as Ryan Goins and Kevin Pillar hit two-run home runs for the Blue Jays and J.A. Happ won for the first time in four starts. The Rays (90-71) lost their second straight following a seven-game winning streak and dropped a half-game behind Cleveland (90...

Dickey, Blue Jays keep Rays celebration on ice with 6-4 win

Entering the final series of the Blue Jays’ disappointing season at the Rogers Centre the Tampa Bay Rays were in the driver’s seat of the wild-card race. There were 64 permutations and combinations involving the three remaining contenders and leading the Indians by one game and the Rangers by two the Rays simply needed to win two of three games to ensure hosting the wild-card...

Blue Jays Rumors: Toronto willing to listen to offers for Jose Bautista, Edwin Encarnacion

The Toronto Blue Jays may have some of the most coveted hitters in the American League. Edwin Encarnacion and Jose Bautista are two very good power hitters and teams ask the Blue Jays about them "constantly." The Blue Jays will be open to anything this offseason and are willing to listen to offers for star outfielder Jose Bautista and power hitting third baseman Edwin...
