MILWAUKEE When an injury depleted the pitching depth at Triple-A Nashville, the Milwaukee Brewers turned to a familiar face to fill the void. The Brewers signed right-hander Tim Dillard to a minor league contract Saturday assigning him to Nashville, where he will be available to the Sounds Saturday night at Round Rock. Dillard fills the roster spot of right-hander Chris Jakubauskas, who was placed on Nashville's disabled list retroactive to May 3. The 29-year-old Dillard went unsigned last offseason and had been pitching for the Lancaster Barnstormers of the independent Atlantic League. Dillard didn't allow an earned run in seven innings with the Barnstormers this season. Selected by the Brewers in the 34th round of the 2002 MLB Draft, Dillard made his major league debut in 2008. The right-hander appeared in 13 games with a 4.40 ERA in 2008 but appeared in just two big league games in 2009. In 2010, Dillard spent the year at Nashville converting to throwing sidearm, and he came back up to the Brewers in 2011, posting a 4.08 ERA in 24 games. Last season, Dillard appeared in 34 games for the Brewers with a 4.38 ERA. He was outrighted to the minor leagues July 11 and finished the season splitting time at Nashville and Double-A Huntsville. Over the course of four seasons with the Brewers, Dillard is 1-4 with a 4.70 ERA in 84-13 innings in 74 games. Follow Andrew Gruman on Twitter.
