The Milwaukee Brewers got veteran starter Yovani Gallardo back from the DL yesterday.  In his first start since injuring his hamstring at the end of July, Gallardo was excellent.  His performance through the rest of the season will become increasingly important if the Brewers want to explore trade possibilities with the 27-year old. Gallardo went six and a third innings of shutout ball yesterday as the Brewers blanked the Cincinnati Reds 2-0.  Gallardo allowed just three hits while striking out three.  He did walk two batters, but overall, Gallardo's effort was impressive. The Brewers are 54-69 on the season.  However, next year, if they can stay healthy the Brewers can surely compete.  They will have Ryan Braun back, they should have Corey Hart back, and they can build around Yovani Gallardo if they'd like.  But Gallardo will likely garner some offseason trade attention this winter.  He is young and talented, and the Brewers only have him through next season. Gallardo is 77-52 with a 3.79 ERA in his seven-year Major League career.  He has proven himself over the years despite a rough season this year.  Gallardo is 8-9 with a 4.91 ERA this season.  Don't be surprised if he is one of the main targets this offseason as the Brewers would need to begin extension talks this offseason if they want to retain Gallardo beyond the 2014 season.
