Brian Wilson is now a Los Angeles Dodger.
After spending the last 15 months recovering from his second Tommy John surgery, the famous bearded closer shucked his roots in the San Francisco Giants organization and opted to sign a one-year, $1 million contract with their arch-rivals.
There have been mixed reactions from around the league. His former teammates and current Giants are happy that he’s found a place to play. According to Giants beat writer Chris Haft, Matt Cain sent Wilson a congratulatory text. Manager Bruce Bochy was happy that he made the comeback despite the two surgeries. Tim Lincecum said, “He’s probably one of the hardest workers I’ve seen, so I know that’ll be a reflection of what you see out there.”
Obviously, however, the San Francisco fans don’t feel quite as happy for Wilson. You didn’t have to look any farther than Twitter to discover their true feelings.
Brian Wilson is now a Dodger. May his beard catch lice.
