(Justin K. Aller/Getty Images) Third base umpire John Hirschbeck wasn’t having any of Bryce Harper’s debate Sunday after Harper though he held up on a check swing Sunday.  On a pitch that appeared to be strike three anyway, Harper and Hirschbeck had a disagreement on whether Harper checked his swing in time. Like any good umpire should, Hirschbeck was going to let Harper get away with his initial reaction, which in this case was Harper raising his arms in disbelief.  But the move that caused Hirschbeck to run him was Harper slamming his bat and helmet in the dugout.  Which, when you think about it, nobody saw it but the guys on the field and in the dugout.  Ergo, there was no showing up of anyone. What Hirschbeck should have done, especially since it was the third out of the inning, was turn around and walk away.  Instead, he went looking for action. A game doesn’t go by without a slammed bat or helmet.  Hirschbeck felt the need to throw out his shoulder objecting to today’s flavor of the day.  Lighten up, Hirschbeck.  And make sure you do your shoulder stretches for tomorrow when the next guy throws his helmet outside of the view of everyone but 20-some guys.
