Bryce Harper continues his assault on becoming one of the biggest stars in Major League Baseball and most popular players in the blogosphere with a new commercial for the insurance company GEICO. The Washington Nationals young superstar displays some comedic chops as he assists a young boy whose shirt is stained when a pal’s drink is spilled on his No. 34 shirt when Harper strolls by. Before the kid can get upset over his buddy’s clumsiness, Harper says, “Hey buddy, there’s no crying in baseball.” But Harper, being a stand-up young man, goes a step further to help rectify the stained-shirt situation. While taking questions during a press conference after his exchange with the two youths, Harper is seen sporting the kid’s soiled shirt. Harper asks the assembled media if they have any questions and then clarifies his statement by wondering if there are any questions about something besides his super-tight and stained shirt. Good stuff, although Harper’s acting is a bit wooden and could use some work. That skill will come with experience, though. And if there are any more GEICO commercials for Harper in the future, I’d like to see GEICO initiate the triumphant return of the company’s cavemen and have Harper teach those prehistoric pitchmen a thing or two about hitting some dingers. Call me a Neanderthal, but I loved those cavemen. And their short-lived sitcom on ABC. Remember that? No? Huh. On the other hand, for the next spot, maybe Harper and the GEICO Gecko can engage in some sort of baseball-themed shenanigans. I’m just brainstorming and throwing out ideas here. Call me, GEICO. Let’s meet. [H/T D.C. Sports Bog] The post Bryce Harper wears little kid’s stained shirt in new GEICO commercial (video) appeared first on Sportress of Blogitude.
