The Pirates found some more two-out magic last night, rallying late in the game to beat the Diamondbacks 2-1 to win a series for the first time since they opened the year against the Phillies. This was a big game for the Buccos to try to erase what had been a god awful road trip and gain some momentum coming back home.
The Diamondbacks took a 1-0 lead in the first inning after Willie Bloomquist hit a leadoff triple off of James McDonald and Jason Kubel hit him in with a single. After that it was a pitcher’s duel with neither team giving up a run till the seventh inning.
J-Mac made it four innings before getting pulled in pinchhit situation for recent call up Brad Lincoln. J-Mac pitched well, only giving up three hits and one earned run, but he threw 79 pitches through four innings which is way too many. Jeff Karstens was removed from tonight’s start after giving up two runs in the first inning. He batted in the top half of the 2nd but did not go back out to pitch.
