Building the Cleveland Pen - Exercise in Futility?

Kerry Wood joined the Cleveland bullpen this weekend, and along with Joe Smith and the holdovers from last year, it would seem that GM Mark Shapiro has built himself a solid pen. Except that many a solid-looking pen has fallen apart at the seams year after year. Take a look at each component of this bullpen, and you see a very distinct dark side looking back at you. A few bad bounces and this bullpen could be as bad as last year's edition. In the end, what can you do but amass as many competent arms as you can and hope they stick? Not much. More after the jump.
