CUBS 5, RANGERS 4 MESA, Ariz. -- Alfonso Soriano and Darwin Barney each homered off Alexi Ogando and the Chicago Cubs beat the Texas Rangers 5-4 on Tuesday. Johan Yan walked Wellington Castillo before Soriano hit his third long ball of spring training in the first inning. Anthony Rizzo added a sacrifice fly in the first. Barney homered with one out in the second. Texas scored twice in the first two innings against left-hander Chris Rusin. But Rusin settled down and allowed just one hit in his three remaining innings. REDS 10, WHITE SOX 6 GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- Chris Heisey and Jay Bruce hit consecutive home runs and the Cincinnati Reds tagged John Danks and the Chicago White Sox 10-6 Tuesday. Brandon Phillips singled twice in his first game since returning to the Reds from the World Baseball Classic. Cincinnati roughed up Danks for 10 runs on 11 hits and two walks in 3 1-3 innings. Heisey hit a three-run homer in the third inning and finished with four RBIs. Bruce followed with his fourth spring homer. Adam Dunn hit a long three-run homer off Homer Bailey in the first. Bailey pitched 4 1-3 innings, just short of his scheduled five after allowing five runs and nine hits. ROCKIES 7, ROYALS 2 SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Juan Nicasio pitched out of trouble in much of his five-inning outing, allowing only Mike Moustakas' home run and leading the Colorado Rockies to a 7-2 win over the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday. Nicasio, who finished the past two seasons on the disabled list, threw 46 strikes in 80 pitches, walking three and striking out four. He gave up three hits and pitched out of jams in the fourth and fifth innings with two runners on and one out. Afterward, manager Walt Weiss confirmed that he had nailed down a spot in the Rockies' starting rotation. Yorvit Torrealba and D.J. LeMahieu had run-scoring singles in the Rockies' three-run fifth inning. The other run scored on two-time Gold Glove left fielder Alex Gordon's throwing error. Jeremy Guthrie, who started last season 3-9 with a 6.35 ERA with the Rockies before being traded July 20 to the Royals, allowed four runs -- three earned -- on eight hits and a walk in six innings.
