MARINERS 6, ATHLETICS 5 PHOENIX -- Michael Morse broke a sixth-inning tie with his sixth home run of spring training, and the Seattle Mariners defeated the Oakland Athletics 6-5 Monday. Morse homered off starter A.J. Griffin for a 4-3 lead, and Dustin Ackley added an RBI single later in the inning against Ryan Cook. Ackley added another run-scoring single in the eighth off Pat Neshek. Right-hander Hisashi Iwakuma, one of the candidates to become the Mariners' No. 2 spot behind Felix Hernandez, gave up three runs and six hits in five innings, including Derek Norris' two-run homer. Oakland's Coco Crisp leaped and reached over the center-field fence to rob Jesus Montero of what appeared would be a two-run homer in the second. D-BACKS 5, DODGERS 3 GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Carl Crawford got two hits and two RBIs in his second spring training appearance for the Dodgers, and Josh Beckett was scratched because of flu as Los Angeles lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-3 Monday. After going 0 for 3 Sunday against Milwaukee in his delayed debut, Crawford again was the designated hitter. He lined a single to left in the third and singled in two runs in the fifth with a drive to center, both against Randall Delgado. Crawford is coming off left elbow surgery on Aug. 23, two days before the Dodgers obtained him from Boston. He was slowed by nerve irritation in the elbow on March 1. Beckett, acquired from the Red Sox in the same trade, threw 76 pitches over six innings in a simulated game rather than face the Diamondbacks. Dodgers starter Josh Wall allowed Eric Hinske's RBI single in the second. Adam Eaton hit a two-run triple off Peter Moylan in the third and Paul Goldschmidt had a solo homer off Paco Rodriguez in the fourth. INDIANS 4, BREWERS 2 GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- Ubaldo Jimenez struck out five in 5 1-3 innings Monday, helping the Cleveland Indians beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-2, Jimenez, eager to bounce back from two subpar seasons, allowed two runs, seven hits and a walk. Marco Estrada, returning to the Brewers from the World Baseball Classic, gave up one run, three hits and three walks in 2 1-3 innings. He walked Mark Reynolds with the bases loaded in the first. Jean Segura hit two singles for the Brewers and is hitting .351. Blake Lalli doubled in a run against Jimenez. Drew Stubbs singled and doubled in three at-bats for Cleveland. Lou Marson and Ezequiel Carrera singled in runs off Alfredo Figaro, and Cord Phelps hit an RBI triple. Home plate umpire Patrick Mahoney was hit on the head on Reynolds' backswing and was replaced by Jordan Baker after a 12-minute delay.
