Former Baltimore Orioles great Cal Ripken Jr. announced a $100,000 reward Thursday for information that helps lead to the capture and conviction of the person who abducted his mother a year ago. Vi Ripken was taken against her will from her Aberdeen home at gunpoint on July 24, 2012, and returned unharmed 24 hours later. The former Orioles shortstop said he hoped the reward would re-energize his mother’s unsolved case according to USA Today.  “I think in some ways maybe this should’ve happened earlier,” Ripken said of the reward offered on behalf of his company, Ripken Baseball, and the Ripken family. “I think in the beginning … we were all hopeful that (an arrest) would happen pretty quickly and we were all encouraged. But, you know, it is what it is.” Former “America’s Most Wanted” host John Walsh joined Ripken at the announcement, pledging his help.

We’ve seen cakes shaped like Louboutins, Louis Vuitton bags, laptops and Hennessy bottles. But, I’ve never seen a cake to resemble a Popeye’s chicken box, delectable side dishes included. Apparently Baltimore Orioles center fielder, Adam Jones has a love for the fast food establishment so a friend thought it would be a great idea to get him a birthday cake in the image of a...

Instead Showalter sees the financial advantages for the Yankees if Rodriguez is suspended. According to the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the portion of a player’s salary that he does not collect while...

Orioles manager Buck Showalter predicts own catcher will sign with Yankees

The way Baltimore Orioles manager Buck Showalter sees it, the New York Yankees should be doing back flips if the result of the Biogenesis PED scandal results in an Alex Rodriguez suspension, and the longer, the better.  Based upon the cleared payroll, Showalter went as far to predict that his own two-time All-Star catcher, Matt Wieters, would probably defect and be wearing Pinstripes...

Showalter's Yankees comments were private

Orioles manager Buck Showalter is unusual in many ways. He’s a manager who actually enjoys the media relishes exchanging ideas and opinions with them. This week he got burned. Buck Showalter steamed at Yanks' possible A-Rod windfall

Orioles show lots of offense in 11-8 win over Mariners

The Orioles offense is terribly dependent on home runs. Never was that more apparent than Friday night when the Seattle Mariners seemed never to go away and the Orioles hit three important home runs. Each one was important—and symbolic. The offense was needed because Chris Tillman was uncharacteristically erratic in the Orioles 11-8 win over the Seattle Mariners before 25947 at...
