Midwest Sports Fans:
In the inaugural edition of MSF’s baseball podcast “Call to the Bullpen” Corey D’Souza and I look at where remaining free agents Prince Fielder and Edwin Jackson may end up, and they analyze the Carlos Zambrano trade to the Miami Marlins from the Chicago Cubs and what that could mean for each team.
To close things out, Pat and Corey look at the players on the ballot for the 2012 Hall of Fame and what their chances are for getting in eventually.

For this being a blog about the Los Angeles Dodgers, I sure am writing about a player with little-to-no-chance of being a Dodger.Anyway, today at the MLB Owners' Meetings, soon-to-be-former Dodgers' owner Frank McCourt was asked about Prince Fielder. He laughed. Literally."But, to the question of whether the Dodgers might pursue Fielder, outgoing owner Frank McCourt...
The Washington Nationals didn't place a bid to purchase the rights Japanese pitcher Yu Darvish this offseason, but he may be the leading factor blocking Prince Fielder's arrival in DC. Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com is reporting that Darvish and the Texas Rangers, the team that won exclusive negotiating rights to his contract, are not close to a deal.
The Rangers paid a ...
While you're sitting around waiting for Prince Fielder news, enjoy the photo above, moments after Michael Morse apparently went Beast Mode on skee ball or some such game at his local Dave And Busters-type restaurant? Photo via Michael Morse's Facebook page.

Prince Fielder remains available, but as MLB.com's Tom Singer shows, most elite free agents sign considerably earlier on in the offseason. In fact, there's a chance Fielder will sign the latest megadeal in baseball history. Here are the latest rumors on Fielder, as we await concrete news of his next destination...
MLB.com’s Bill Ladson hears that there’s a 99% chance...
Prince Fielder signed...No just joking
The M's announced today that they've signed Aaron Heilman to a minjor league deal and he's invited to spring training with the major league club.
Yes folks. He's coming to camp.
He's competing for a backup position, but trust me Mariners fans I know this isn't the signing you wanted to hear about.
Prince Fielder headlines a handful of high-profile Scott Boras clients who remain available in free agency, but most of the offseason’s top free agents have signed contracts by now. Here’s a look at possible suitors for the top ten remaining free agents (ranking on MLBTR’s list of top 2012 free agents in parentheses):
Prince Fielder (2) - Fielder will sign before Spring...
HBT: Despite an earlier report saying the Nats weren't after the slugger, Prince Fielder is still very much a target for the team, as owners met with agent Scott Boras on Wednesday.
In spite of the buzz out there about owner Jeffrey Loria meeting Scott Boras, who represents unsigned free agent Prince Fielder, the Marlins’ position on the slugging first baseman has not changed. According to a source who has spoken with their front office, they have not begun pursuing Fielder.
The soon-to-be free agent to monitor is Yoenis Cespedes, who on Thursday will begin...
Keep in mind, the offseason isn't over, so these rankings are subject to change before the season starts.
1. Texas Rangers
Why they deserve it: They’ve been to the last two consecutive World Series and have the best offense in baseball. They may also add Darvish, Fielder or Madson.
Why they don’t deserve it: They have an average rotation at best, lost...
Congratulations to the newest member of the Hall of Fame Barry Larkin and onwards with the belated second part of my series on how contenders can use the remaining free agents to fill key gaps on their rosters:
Need: Centre field
They might not be targeting a new centre fielder, they seem quite content with giving Chris Coughlin the job, but that doesn’t mean they...
They shipped out troublesome former ace Carlos Zambrano, let top hitter Aramis Ramirez leave in free agency and decided against bringing back power hitter Carlos Pena. So what do the Cubs do with the big-ticket holdover they couldn’t move this winter? They bat Alfonso Soriano cleanup, of course. This...
