The Red Sox have finally traded veteran outfielder Mike Cameron… he will resume his career in sunny Miami, Florida. The Red Sox have announced that Cameron, who was designated for assignment by the Sox back on June 30th, has been sent to the Marlins, along with cash, in exchange for the proverbial “Player To Be Named Later” or cash. Cameron played in 48 games for the Old Towne Team last season, hitting .259, with four home runs… but his season was cut short by injuries. As the 2011 campaign approached, manager Terry Francona hinted he would get a lot more opportunities to contribute this season – likely in a straight platoon with RF JD Drew – but the platoon never really materialized. Cameron was used sporadically. He did not adjust well to his role as the 24th man on the team. He hit just .149, with 3 HR and 9 RBI, before being designated by the front office.
