He'll have a chance tonight in the Home Run Derby. I, for one, can't wait to see this. Everyone talks about Josh Hamilton's batting practice. And it is cool to watch. But Nelson Cruz can also put on a show in BP. I predict he'll surprise a few folks tonight.
If he does, it will be as a long shot. Several sites, including this one, list Cruz with the next to longest odds behind Detroit's Brandon Inge. Albert Pujols and Ryan Howard are the favorites.
Blogger Patrick sent me an email with his predictions. He has Pujols, Howard, Cruz and Joe Mauer into the second round with Cruz and Pujols in the finals with Cruz winning. He admits he's a Rangers homer, but says the ball carries well to left field, helping Cruz.
So how many total home runs do you think Cruz hits tonight? Where will he finish in the competition?
