Don’t get me wrong, I am no movie critic and haven’t yet been given the keys to run a major league franchise (I can always dream), but I can say that I am really looking forward to when this movie finally comes out.
By now almost everyone close to the game knows that the Oakland Athletics were featured in the book Moneyball by Michael Lewis. Moneyball is a tale of how the cash strapped A’s took to building their team through math and forged a team based on unwanted or forgotten players to lead them to success.
For someone like me who was utterly clueless to this world before I read the book, the idea of creating a team through what a computer tells you is, of course, very intriguing.
It has been said many times that this movie is very reminiscent of “The Social Network” phenomenon. And of course the question remains, “Can the movie makers take what is written and make it a story that people truly care for”?
