Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano claimed on Thursday that an Internet rumor suggesting he was about to be suspended for 50 games was false, the New York Daily News reported. "Not at all," Cano told the Dailey News, regarding a Twitter message that Cano was going to be suspended for violating the league's substance abuse policy. "There's no test or anything." Cano's agent, Scott Boras, also told the Daily News the rumors were baseless. Boras said he has not been told of any positive test by the Major League Baseball Players Association. The players' union would notify the player and his representatives of the positive test result so the player could prepare an appeal. Thursday's rumor apparently started when Dan Tordjman, a Charlotte, N.C., television reporter, wrote on Twitter that he "can't confirm this but I'm hearing that Robinson Cano tested positive for PEDs [performance-enhancing drugs]." Cano is a close friend of Melky Cabrera, who was hit with a 50-game suspension earlier this season after testing positive for banned substances. "You can't control what people say," Cano told the Daily News. "There's a lot of negative stuff out there and I can't control that. I have to stay above that. There's been the same thing for a long time. It's something I can't control."
