Another angle on a Wainwright extension

Late last week, I laid out the top contracts of starting pitchers across Major League Baseball and compared them to what Adam Wainwright might make in 2014 and beyond. Polls were included that allowed readers to express your favored number of years, dollars and timing. Four years was the leader in the voting, with the money in the $17-$20 million per year range. That comparison...

What if the Cardinals had traded more prospects?

Some St. Louis Cardinals fans are questioning the club’s management for not making an impact trade before Tuesday’s non-waiver trade deadline. Their only deal was swapping former first-rounder Zack Cox to Miami for reliever Edward Mujica. While the rumor mill linked the Cards to a number of prominent players supposedly on the market, only a very few of those names ended up...

Miami Marlins Fans Duped Again After Management Dismantles Team

The Miami Marlins entered the 2012 MLB season with perhaps the highest expectations that they ever placed upon themselves. Owner Jeffrey Loria had expected his team to compete for a postseason berth for each of the past three seasons, but those expectations were just flat out unrealistic. But after fleecing convincing the taxpayers to help finance a new stadium, the...

The Miami Marlins are moving Carlos Zambrano to the bullpen. Cardinals-Rockies Preview

(AP) -- St. Louis has been powered by strong starting pitching all season long. If that trend doesn't continue in Colorado, the Cardinals may soon find themselves out of the race for the NL Central with the way the Cincinnati Reds are playing.
