The St. Louis Cardinals interviewed two more candidates Wednesday for their vacant managerial opening.
Former Chicago Cubs standout second baseman Ryne Sandberg and St. Louis third base coach Jose Oquendo were the fifth and sixth candidates to be interviewed.
"To have the opportunity for a managerial post like this is a tremendous compliment," Sandberg told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "I felt comfortable in the interview. I felt it went as well as it could go."
Sandberg managed Philadelphia's Triple-A affiliate at Lehigh Valley last season and spent four seasons managing in the Cubs organization.
Former Boston Red Sox manager Terry Francona interviewed Tuesday.
Longtime manager Tony La Russa retired after leading the Cardinals to the World Series title this season.
