Carlos Gomez of the Brewers delivered a win for Milwaukee on Monday night in a new way: by robbing Joey Votto of what would have been a go-ahead home run. With two outs in the ninth and the Reds trailing the Brewers 4-3, Votto hit a deep drive to center field off of Francisco Rodriguez. Gomez got on his horse, reached the center field wall at Miller Park, leapt, and came down with the ball. On the play, Votto and Derrick Robinson (who was walked by Rodriguez earlier in the inning and represented the tying run) kept running because of the uncertainty of whether or not Gomez actually caught the ball. They departed the field once they saw Gomez with the ball in his glove, and the Brewers celebrated an amazing catch and a solid win in an otherwise dismal season. [follow]
