I have mixed feelings on this. On one hand, Marmol is my second favorite Carlos on the team (and probably second favorite player too). That slurve of is just sick and fun to watch. On the other hand, he’s walked 8.11 batters per nine innings. This could signal two different things. It could be that the Cubs are making Marmol the closer because they don’t want to shell out money for a new one due to budget considerations, which is a bad sign. It also could just be that he pitched sufficiently well in that small sample size that Hendry feels that he can spend the money elsewhere (Harden, Figgins, etc). I’m leaning towards the second, since this came from Lou and not Hendry. I could just be wishcasting here though.
