There was an article in the Akron Beacon Journal today about the quiet offseason that has kept fans in anxious suspense. Apparantly, Danny Ferry has it all planned out.The Cavs are getting dangerously close the salary cap, which is bad for multiple reasons. But most importantly, is the luxury tax. For every dollar over the limit, you're taxed a dollar. This taxed money goes to your competitors who are underneath the tax line (which is currently 65.4 million). So basically, you lose money, and help your opponents. This is why Danny Ferry and the Cavs have been so quiet recently. The man behind the Disappointment Zone has written an excellent article on exactly how this tax line has translated to few moves this off-season. Topics range from free-agents, to Drew Gooden, to Eric Snow and Big Z. I suggest you check it out.
