The Evil Empire:
INSIDER: The Yankees have won 5 straight and are 9 games over .500. .. The Red Sox lost today so the Yanks are up by 1.5 games in the division. They have also taken the first two games of a 4-game series against the Cleveland Indians.
The first-place Yankees improved to 4-1 on their current road trip and have won 14 of their past 17 games. Their errorless streak extends to 16 games now.
ON THE MOUND:

CC Sabathia making his return to Cleveland against his former teammates allowed just 3 runs on five hits while walking three and striking out eight. Sabathia threw 113 pitches and 70 for strikes.
CC took a perfect game into the fifth. After he recorded the first out, Choo hit a bouncer up the middle that deflected off Sabathia's pitching hand before being gobbled by second baseman Robinson Cano, who had no play on the infield hit. IMO, Jeter had a chance if he charged at the ball more.
Mark DeRosa and Ryan Garko followed with hits to break up Sabathia's shutout effort, and Jamey Carroll also had an RBI single.
The third run allowed came on a Grady Sizemore solo homerun to center.
David Robertson pitched a scoreless eighth inning.

Jose Veras mopped up in a shaky two-run ninth that included a Choo homer and Ben Francisco's RBI double. Veras needs to be DFA'd.
THE OFFENSE:
The Bombers got on the board with a 2-run second inning off Fausto Carmona.

Jorge Posada took him deep for his 6th HR of the season, his second day after being activated from the DL.

Nick Swisher then connected for his 10th HR of the season.

The Yanks added 5 more in the 4th. Derek Jeter came through on a 2-run single to extend his hitting streak to 13 games.
Johnny Damon drove in Gardner on a linedrive to right. Jeter advanced to third on the throwing error.
Robinson Cano knocked in 2 more as Damon and Teixeira came around to score. Alex Rodriguez was out at third on the throw to end the inning.
Johnny Damon picked up his second RBI of the game on a ground out to first to bring in Gardner.
The Yanks tacked on 2 more in the 9th. Teixeira doubled. A-rod flew out. Cano then hit a RBI single and went to second on the throw.

Following a Posada groundout, Hideki Matsui doubled in Cano to give the Yankees their 10th run of the game. Matsui missed out on a double earlier in the game. He had settled for a single as he didn't hustle into second. He barely even jogged. His knees are obviously killing him but he still managed to have a great day at the plate going 3 for 5 while scoring a run and driving in a run.
