Found March 19, 2009 on Another Cubs Blog:
Here’s an excellent write-up on the hatchet job the Tribune did on Sammy Sosa immediately prior to trading him. I particularly liked the part about Sosa sticking around in 1999 for about an hour to sign autographs while his teammates headed straight for their cars. As ccd notes, this is not the story we’ve been fed. It’s truly unfortunate that so many supposed Cubs fans bought the Tribune’s line regarding Sammy Sosa hook, line and sinker. These are some of the most gullible fans on the planet. People could make a lot of money (unethically so) if they were willing to exploit the naivety of Cubs fans. A simple test would do: What are your opinions on Sosa? If they answer as 70% probably will, you’re good to go. I won’t take advantage of this, and I’m not encouraging anybody to, but if you’re looking to scam someone, find a Cubs fan who did exactly as the Tribune wanted them to do in 2004. These people aren’t hard to find. Even on CCD’s site, 68% thought Sosa’s number should not be retired by the Cubs. 68% of the people who read one of the better Cubs blogs around bought every word the Tribune sold them. You could make millions off of these fools if you’re an ethically challenged individual. Just sayin’.
