Found July 13, 2012 on Taking Bad Schotz:
The 2012 Home Run Derby was highlighted by a few consecutive 450’ foot bombs by Mark Trumbo, poor showings by Robinson Cano and Matt Kemp (again), and the fountain shots by champion Prince Fielder. However, I found it to be one of the most boring Derbys yet. Ratings rose in this year’s 2012 Home Run Derby in Kansas City by about 3 percent from last year, totaling about 200,000 more viewers. Viewers were the strongest in Kansas City with about 15.1 percent as well as the giant markets of New York and Los Angeles. With about 6.9 million people watching this boring-ish derby (the most since 2009), the question needs to be asked, does there need to be a change to the derby? I think yes. Started in 1985, the Home Run Derby has been a consistent staple in the Mid-Summer Classic. We have seen all-time greats such as Ryne Sandberg, Cal Ripken Jr., and Frank Thomas unload on baseballs that are probably still flying. We have seen Josh Hamilton hit 28 homers in 1 round, Bobby Abreu blasts 41 o...

Robinson Cano Snubs Melky on Home Run Trot

All Star MVP (BLECH!!!!) Melky Cabrera hit a home run Tuesday during the National League's drubbing of their American League counterparts. Rounding the bases he reached a hang out to former teammate Robinson Cano for a congratulatory handshake. Robinson snubbed him.  Ooh burn![Gifulmination]

Jeter: "Idiots'" treatment of Cano at All-Star Game nothing compared to Fenway's

Derek Jeter— the New York Yankees most high-profile player and ambassador to the sport of baseball did his best Henry Kissinger impersonation and said Robinson Cano's treatment at the All-Star Game was wrong but not all of the fans are "idiots." "It happens man, my parents sometimes don't go to games because of what fans do," said Jeter.  "I don...

Angels are back on stride heading into 2nd half

When Mark Trumbo is smashing line drives into the alleys and Mike Trout is circling the bases with reckless abandon, it's tough to remember when the Los Angeles Angels were in trouble this season because Albert Pujols was struggling. Not only is the Angels' $240 million first baseman rounding into fearsome form, the youngsters in his lineup are producing All-Star seasons...

MLB Power Rankings- Round 2

Over the course of a 162 game schedule, the cream will always rise to the top in Major League Baseball. With one half of the season over some of that cream is sitting right on top and ready to stay there. One of those teams is the New York Yankees. It was only a matter of time before the Yankees were going to hit their stride and boy did they hit it in June, going 20-7 for the month...

Trumbo, Angels edged by New York

NEW YORK (AP) -- Mark Teixeira homered twice and drove in five runs, Russell Martin hit a go-ahead single and the New York Yankees overcame yet another homer by Mark Trumbo to rally past the Los Angeles Angels 6-5 Friday night. Teixeira's three-run shot and Martin's two-out single in the eighth inning overcame the Angels' 5-2 edge. Trumbo homered in his fifth straight...

Los Angeles Angels' Mike Trout, New York Yankees' Robinson Cano Favored to Win AL MVP

Only two players in Major League Baseball history have won both the Rookie of the Year and MVP awards in the same season. Of course Boston fans know one of them: outfielder Fred Lynn in his memorable 1975 campaign. The other was Seattle’s Ichiro Suzuki in 2001. Current Los Angeles Angels rookie outfielder Mike Trout could make it a trio as he is now the 5-2 co-favorite at Bovada...

Yankees take down Angels again

Robinson Cano and Curtis Granderson each hit two-run homers off Jerome Williams on Saturday, leading the New York Yankees to a 5-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels. Freddy Garcia and three relievers kept Mark Trumbo in the ballpark, denying him a homer in a record sixth straight game against the Yankees. Nick Swisher, who appeared to rob Trumbo of a second long ball Friday night...

MLB Second Half Question Marks: Buyers and Sellers

In case the thousand mentions of the Robinson Cano/Kansas City feud weren't obvious enough, the slowest days of the sports year are upon us. There's plenty to ponder, though, as the second half of the season gets underway Thursday. First, the obvious question: Which National League Team Will Win the World Series? 15 of the last 20 World Series champions held home field...

The All-Star Game In 8 Pictures

Well done Kansas City. Thanks to Chevy "Keys To Your City" (LINK HERE) CardsDiaspora.com was able to go to the crap side of Missouri and take in MLBs 2012 All-Star Game. By now you know that it was like run bukkake for the National League sending former Cardinals skip Tony LaRussa out on top. Again. You know that Billy Butler and Robinson Cano are inexorably connected...

Mark Teixeira homered twice and drove in five runs, Russell Martin hit a go-ahead single and the New York Yankees overcame yet another homer by Mark Trumbo to rally past the Los Angeles Angels 6-5 Friday night.
