FF Locker Room:
The Chicago Cubs have activated right-handed relievers Arodys Vizcaino and Kyuji Fujikawa from the 60-day disabled list.
Vizcaino, who had season-ending surgery back in May on his right elbow to remove calcium buildup should be 100% healthy and ready to go come spring training, but the news isn’t as good for Fujikawa. Having had to have Tommy John surgery back in June, he will most likely miss the first half of the 2014 season at a minimum.

Albert Almora has always carried himself with confidence. However, due perhaps to falling further in the draft than he had hoped or losing much of the past season to injury, Almora now seems to have developed a chip on his shoulder. Gone is the quiet, soft-spoken kid from the summer. Almora is anything but, possessing a boldness that a team coming off its third straight 90-loss season...
The Cubs appear to be looking very closely at Padres bench coach Rick Renteria as they enter what's been described as the "final stages" of their search.
Renteria looks like a strong favorite at the moment, though there's no word that anything's been decided or is official.
Renteria is said to most closely match what they are looking for as a teacher of young...
As the Cubs eye Red Sox bench coach Torey Lovullo for an interview in the next few days, don’t take your eye off Padres bench coach Rick Renteria.
An exhaustive managerial search has narrowed the field of likely replacements for Dale Sveum to a select few in the final days before a decision is expected, with Renteria’s strong player-development background and rapport with young...
So this is interesting.
Probably more than unfounded rumor but definitely less than close to anything resembling serious. Starlin Castro for Shelby Miller (plus another prospect, probably).
If I'm being completely honest with myself, Castro was one of the best Cubs to make fun of. A franchise-type talent... but so Cubbish. The kind of guy that wins a game on his own...
Is Theo Epstein’s patient approach in hiring a new manager for the Chicago Cubs hurting their chances?
