According to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York, Sandy Alderson said last month while he wouldn’t rule out a return for Capuano, he added “There’s sort of a history here of signing a guy for a year, he does pretty well, sign him for a couple of years or what have you and things don’t go as well. That’s not with respect to Chris necessarily, but as a general rule we will take a look at these things from the perspective of today as opposed to the perspective of a year ago.” In addition, Jon Heyman of SI.com recently said “the Mets have crossed Chris Capuano off their list as he seeks a two-year deal.” The 33-year-old Capuano signed a one-year deal with the Mets last winter. He was 11-12 with a 4.55 ERA in 33 appearances for the Mets last season, during which he struck out 168 batters and walked 53 in 186 innings. He had an 8.61 ERA in the 6th inning this past season and a 12.15 ERA in the seventh inning.
