I've been a big advocate of the Mets obtaining another bat but now with the injured moving closer to returning I'm not sure if we need one. It's ironic to bring this up on a night when we win 2-1 against the struggling Pirates but the Mets found away to win without three of their projected starters. Because of the nature of Ryan Church's injury I have never expected him to return this season and Trot Nixon was said to be out for the rest of the year. So with that in mind I have suggested and expected Omar to pickup another bat, and when he didn't I was disappointed. It's not that I don't have faith in Tatis, Murphy, A. Reyes, Easley, Chavez or Evans but the more they're used the higher the risk of diminished returns and the thinner the bench becomes. Now both outfielders are moving closer to returning, which is the equivalent of an significant acquisition.
