Dom D's Mets Fan Blog:
Church, who finished 1-for-3 in the Mets' 3-0 win over the Astros, had been having an All-Star caliber season in his first year as a Met. He went into Friday batting .307 with 10 home runs and 36 RBIs. He had had only 44 at-bats with the Mets since he suffered his second concussion of the year May 20 in Atlanta.
Church Said, "I knew I was going to come back, I just didn't know when," he said. "Hopefully, it's over with and I won't have to deal with this type of injury again."
"I feel great," he said. "The biggest thing for me was going out there every day, making plays, running around, being on the bases, and really testing my legs out in the outfield. There were no setbacks, no feelings of dizziness or loopiness or anything like that. I just kept progressing every day."
Manager Jerry Manuel said Church would play again Saturday night and sit Sunday against Astros lefthander Randy Wolf. Fernando Tatis will be Church's platoon partner.
