32-year righty starter/reliever Claudio Vargas has decided to retire. Vargas pitched in 8 games (4 starts) in AAA-ball for the Rockies this year and he was 2-2 with a 11.08 ERA and a 2.42 WHIP. He gave up 50 hits and 6 homers in only 26 innings pitched this year in AAA. Vargas pitched in 217 games (114 starts) in his 8 years in the majors and he was 48-40 with 1 save, a 4.83 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP. The Rockies won’t miss Vargas at all going forward.
