No, Clay Buchholz. It’s not golf, and the lowest score doesn’t win. On Wednesday the Red Sox right-hander took his turn in the Beautyrest Baggo Classic, and, despite some impressive athletic displays last year, didn’t fare too well this time around. Buchholz ended up with  a couple hangers, but ultimately could muster up only three points over his two rounds, putting him in last place. Check out the video above to see if you can figure out what was wrong with Buchholz’s bean-bag tossing form.

Clay Buchholz injures hamstring to kick off spring training

Sorry about the pic of J.D. Drew. It is just instinct to post a photo of Drew when I hear of a hamstring injury. I have to shake that old habit. It seems as if the luck of the Celtics has already rubbed off on the Red Sox, as Clay Buchholz injured his right hamstring on the first day of pitching workouts. Farrell said the team will know more Wednesday but added, “it was enough...

Clay Buchholz’s Hamstring, Daniel Bard’s Rebound Attempt Among Top 10 Red Sox Spring Training Storylines (Photos)

Spring training is officially under way, and the Red Sox are one of the more interesting teams to watch. There’s no telling whether this season will yield better results for the Sox. There are still a lot of questions, and after a 69-93 campaign, there are plenty of reasons to be skeptical. One thing that’s certain, however, is that this season’s Red Sox team looks significantly...

David Ortiz pins a lot of the Red Sox’s 2012 woes on Bobby Valentine

Bobby Valentine was a dead man walking the day the Boston Red Sox announced he would be their next manager last winter. Not only was he the wrong man for the job, but I highly doubt anyone would have been able to clean up Boston’s mess and lead a playoff charge. The Red Sox won only 69 games and finished in last in the AL East, and David Ortiz feels that Valentine was one of the...

Report: Lyle Overbay Has Discussed Possibility of Playing Some Outfield With Red Sox

Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? Lyle Overbay, a 36-year-old veteran of 12 major league seasons, has never played a position on the diamond other than first base in his big league career. It appears he has at least talked about changing that in 2013. Overbay has discussed with the Red Sox the possibility of playing some outfield, according to The Boston Globe’s...

Red Sox Spring Training News & Notes Part 2 - 2/12

First day of spring training and the Boston Red Sox already have had one player suffer an injury. And it comes to one of the key starting pitchers for the 2013 season. According to manager John Farrell, Clay Buchholz suffered a mild strain of his right hamstring covering first base during PFP's. The good news is that it doesn't appear to be that bad and he should only...

Jose Iglesias Views 2012 as Great Learning Experience, Says He Had ‘Best Offseason of My Life’

The hype surrounding Jose Iglesias has died down a bit, but the young shortstop’s confidence is as high as ever. Iglesias said that he is entering spring training on the heels of the best offseason of his life, according to ESPN.com’s Joe McDonald. Iglesias won’t start the season as Boston’s everyday shortstop now that Stephen Drew is in the mix, but 23-year-old is excited...

Jose Iglesias has 'Best offseason of my life'

Throughout some of the recent talk of major expectations from Red Sox minor league prospects, former top-prospect Jose Iglesias flew under the radar. With acquired SS Stephen Drew expected to start, Xander Bogaerts and Devon Marrero are also considered to be candidates for the position in the future. The Sox seem to be all set with the position for the years to come, but it is...

Shane Victorino's always having more fun than you, always

Maybe you're unaware but Shane Victorino is capable of having ten to twelve times more fun then you ever will. The Flying Hawaiian has landed in Ft. Myers and is already spicing things up with his carefree and fun demeanor. I truly believe Victorino would've been the perfect right fielder for the “Idiots” in 2004 - I never thought J.D. Drew fit the bill. Shane was...

Dustin Pedroia Doesn’t Blame Bobby Valentine for Red Sox’ Struggles in 2012 (Video)

After Bobby Valentine questioned Kevin Youkilis‘ dedication last season, Dustin Pedroia was the first player to publicly defend his former teammate. But just because Pedroia may not have agreed with everything Valentine did last season doesn’t mean he blames the former manager for the Red Sox’ last place finish in 2012. Pedroia spoke about the differences between John Farrell...

Spring Training Roundup 2/12

Red Sox fans: baseball is back! And so is this blog, hopefully! Today was the first day of Spring Training workouts for the Red Sox pitchers and catchers, as well as a number of early-to-report position players, and we are only nine days away from the first split squad games  against Northeastern University and Boston College next Thursday. Pedroia, Middlebrooks, Napoli, Ortiz take...

John Farrell on John Lackey's status in spring training

One big question mark coming into spring training this season was the health of John Lackey. Lackey had Tommy John surgery in 2011 during the off-season which landed him on the disabled list the entire 2012 season. Now Lackey is back and ready to kick start his career by providing the Red Sox with some much needed depth in the starting rotation.    It’s not surprising that...

John Farrell Brings A Youthful Staff With Him To Boston

In the days since the Red Sox have opened up camp in Fort Myers we’ve heard a lot about the past.  The lingering feelings over what happened at the end of 2011 and the entirety of last season.  We’ve heard about the guys who are or aren’t being leaders, taking responsibility for the previous seasons, pulling their weight in the training room, etc.  If you weren’t any wiser...

John Farrell Says Red Sox Need to Earn Trust in One Another This Season (Video)

New Red Sox manager John Farrell will field a very different team this season than the Boston squad that stumbled through a disappointing campaign in 2012. While he wants his players to learn from last year’s struggles, the new Sox boss stresses the importance of players earning trust in one another and fans regaining trust in the franchise. “Certainly we can’t wipe away what’s...

Jerry Remy Jokes With Customer Support Caller About Phillies, Yankees During Visit to Comcast Offices (Video)

Any viewer joining Jerry Remy and Don Orsillo on a Red Sox broadcast knows that the former second baseman likes to have a fit of laughter every once and a while. They just might not expect to encounter one of the classic giggle fits during a call to customer service. During a stop on the NESN Tour this Wednesday, the RemDawg helped field customer support calls at Comcast offices...
