Final: Phillies 4, Brewers 3.

WP: Cole Hamels (14-6, 2.94 ERA) LP: Mike Fiers (6-6, 2.90 ERA) SV: Jonathan Papelbon (27)

Cole Hamels had another stellar start tonight in Milwaukee, despite giving up a late two-run home run to Ryan Braun that pulled the Brewers to within one run late in the game.  He lasted seven and two-thirds innings, allowing eight hits, one walk, and three runs while striking out a 10 batters. Jonathan Papelbon came in to relieve Hamels and pick up the four-out save.  He now has 27 saves this season, four shy of his 2011 season's save total.

Cole is now in third place in the National League in strikeouts this season, with 168. Only R.A. Dickey of the New York Mets (175) and Stephen Strasburg of the Washington Nationals (173) have more.

All the offense for the Phillies tonight came within the first few frames of tonight's ball game.  John Mayberry and Erik Kratz went back-to-back in homers to left field in the top of the second inning, and Ryan Howard hit his fifth double of the season on a line drive to right field in the top of the third inning, scoring Chase Utley.

Kyle Kendrick (5-9) takes the mound tomorrow in the series finale matinee against former Phillie Randy Wolf (3-9) and the Milwaukee Brewers.  Wolf has a 3-2 record and a 3.86 ERA in 49.0 career innings against the Phils. Kendrick hasn't done quite as well against the Brewers, however.  He is 0-3 with a 4.82 ERA in 18.2 innings against the 'Crew.

Attendance: 43,386.
