Time to give Jorge De La Rosa the credit he deserves as he wills Colorado Rockies to victory

De La Rosa is a quiet superstar.A 2-1 victory for the Colorado Rockies means one thing, the offense is still lost.It would be easy to focus on an offense that has been so bad that they have nearly played themselves out of the playoff picture. They continued to take bad at-bats and not work counts against young pitchers who they have never faced before.Once again, the Marlins starter...

Jhoulys Chacin and the Miraculous Record

Thanks to our friends at Baseball Info Solutions, we have batted ball information dating back to 2002, which gives us data on 11 full seasons and 60% of the 2013 season. It might not be quite as catchy of an time frame as the “Dead Ball Era” or “Steroid Era”, but it’s our own little stretch of baseball that we care about. Sometimes I refer to it as the “UZR era”,...

Rockies' pitching leads way in 2-1 victory over Miami Marlins

The ill-timed slump cut so deeply it even divided the players. They weren't sure how to view this spiral. Troy Tulowitzki spoke of unclenching the fist saying they should play like the ugly guy in the fight — with nothing to lose. Grizzled and bearded Todd Helton labeled it a must-win game. Then again he will be 40 next month and doesn't have a lot of games left. In a...

The conversation, as expected Monday, centered on drugs in sports. But the batting cage at Coors Field might have been the only place in Colorado where the topic wasn't Broncos star Von Miller.
