Drew Pomeranz provided half of the offense in the Rockies loss. The Colorado Rockies are a hard team to predict. They have the offensive firepower to win a bunch of games. They have a solid bullpen. Unfortunately, their starting pitchers leave much to be desired. On Monday night in San Diego, the Rockies lost to the Padres 3-2.After scoring eight runs on Friday night and nine runs on Saturday, the offense has been nearly non-existent the past two days, scoring two runs in each contest. Half of the offense came from the bat of rookie pitcher Drew Pomeranz, who hit is first career home run to left field in the top of the 3rd inning. As exciting as hitting a home run may have been for Pomeranz, his night on the mound wasn't as much fun. In the previous half inning before launching the home run, the lefty was hit by a line drive from Edinson Volquez on the leg. He pitched through it, but ended up coming out of the game due to the injury tightening up.In the 6th inning, the Rockies had ...

The Rockies lost another one thanks to Jim Tracy.,It has become an extremely common occurrence. In the top of the 7th inning, in a 2-1 game, Jim Tracy elected to allow pitcher Alex White to lead off the frame. White was pitching well in his 2012 debut. He had given Tracy six strong innings and kept his team in the ballgame. However, he was as much of a guaranteed out as it gets in...
The Rockies are turning to youth in an attempt to stabilize a rotation that has been highly unreliable and a major weakness. Right-hander Alex White was activated to start Tuesday at San Diego. And left-hander Christian Friedrich will be activated to start there Wednesday in his major league debut. They will pitch the final games in a series that began with a 3-2 loss to the Padres...

DENVER (AP) -- Chipper Jones was still fuming Sunday over claims by Colorado Rockies pitcher Jamie Moyer that the Atlanta star had been stealing signs and relaying them to Braves hitters.
"I'm not happy, to say the least," Jones said after the Braves completed a three-game sweep of the Rockies with a 7-2 victory on Sunday.
"Any time a grown man gets his integrity...
Having not won a roster spot with the Colorado Rockies this past spring, former Cleveland Indians third baseman Casey Blake has opted to call it a career.
Blake tells the Des Moines Register that, while he has been dragging his feet through most of this year, while he had not announced it yet, he “knew in his heart” that he was done with the game of baseball.
“My wife (Abbie...

Two of the oldest players in Major League Baseball are currently in the middle of a fight, and it would probably be pretty funny if the accusations being thrown around weren’t so serious.
Colorado Rockies pitcher Jamie Moyer has accused Atlanta Braves third baseman Chipper Jones of stealing signs. And Jones isn’t exactly taking that insult in stride.
On Saturday the 40-year...
The Colorado Rockies enter Wednesday last in the National League in team ERA and with just one more victory (12) than the San Diego Padres (11). Starting pitching has been the Rockies downfall as injuries and ineffectiveness have kept the third best offense in the N.L. from notching more wins.
The Colorado Rockies have put up some impressive offensive numbers recently, but their bats have been unable to keep with a struggling rotation.
However, the Rockies starters could be in line to begin turning things around beginning Monday night when they open a three-game series against the San Diego Padres.
Colorado fell 7-2 to Atlanta on Sunday to complete a three-game sweep...
