The game between the Colorado Rockies and New York Mets on Monday at Coors Field was canceled after a spring storm deposited a few inches of sloppy snow in the Denver area. Interestingly, this is the second consecutive game the Mets have had postponed on the team’s road trip due to inclement weather after its game against the Minnesota Twins at Target Field on Sunday was also canceled, although that shouldn’t have come as a surprise to anybody given the weather in Minnesota over the past week. But if the members of the Rockies organization — from one of the team’s owners (although I cannot confirm which Monfort brother it was) to Dinger, the team’s mascot, have anything to do with it, there will be a baseball game played in Denver on Tuesday. Both the owner and the mascot, not to mention countless other members of the organization, grabbed shovels alike and began digging Coors Field out of its springtime snowstorm on Tuesday. Newsday’s Mark Carig has also been documenting the cleanup (via @MarkCarig): Everyone out there shoveling, from the Rockies team president to the mascot. Impressive. — Marc Carig (@MarcCarig) April 16, 2013 Was down on the field earlier. Watched Rockies staff literally report to work, grab a shovel, and head for the infield to start moving snow. — Marc Carig (@MarcCarig) April 16, 2013 Carig even uploaded a Vine video which shows Dinger, the team’s mascot, doing a little snow-shoveling. In costume: Awesome. Best of luck to the entire Colorado Rockies organization on its cleanup efforts. Play ball!
