Is Dan O'Dowd's theory backfiring on his young pitchers?Dan O'Dowd's theory may be dismantling right in front of him.On Tuesday night at Coors Field, Christian Friedrich pitched well enough to keep his team in the game--until the 5th inning. In the fifth frame, the rookie lefty had everything set up in his favor. He was facing the bottom of the Pirates order and he was well below the Rockies self-imposed 75 pitch limit. However, Friedrich walked Mike McKenry, then walked Clint Barmes to runners on first and second, an easy sacrifice situation for Pirate pitcher Erik Bedard. Bedard laid down the sacrifice, moving the runners over. Friedrich got Alex Presley to ground out, scoring a run, but it looked like he was going to limit the damage.Instead, Friedrich gave up three singles in a row and uncorked a wild pitch, allowing the Pirates to score four runs in the inning, and ending the lefties night before he could record 15 total outs.O'Dowd has made it clear that he ...

The Phils took the series from the Rockies, their first series win in about a month, as they defeat Colorado by the scores of 8-5 and 5-1.
On Saturday, the Phils took the lead in the first as, with a runner on second, and with one man out, Chase Utley hits an RBI single, knocking in Shane Victorino, who had just doubled, giving the Phils a 1-0 lead. Two batters later, after a walk...
With the Pirates and Rockies finishing up their three-game set in Denver this afternoon, I'll repeat the mantra I used on Sunday: win two out of three. The Pirates have not played their best baseball coming out of the All-Star break, but a win today puts them at 3-3 since play resumed last Thursday and it ensures they'll be no more than one game out of first place. That&...
The city of Denver cannot get enough of Tim Tebow. Last night the Colorado Rockies had a home game against the Pirates, a seemingly routine baseball game. Until we saw this gem on Twitter. In what world is wearing a Tebow Rockies jersey a good decision. It was never funny. It was never cool. Now the guy is out of Denver and in New York and these idiots continue to wear his name...
