There's no surprise that Chad Cordero has refused assignment to the minor leagues and will become a free agent. Mid-season while Cordero was on the disabled list Nationals GM Jim Bowden said that Cordero would be non-tendered this off-season.The 26 y/o right handed closer is expected to be fully healthy by spring training and ready to go at the start of the season. In five full seasons Cordero has saved 128 games in a 152 opportunities and posted a 2.78 ERA, along with being an All-star in 2005.To be honest I expect Omar to sign him, I'm not sure if he'll be the closer or set-up man but I'll be very surprised if Omar passes on him. After all Cordero was one of Omar's biggest accomplishments in Montreal. It was unheard of to bring a completely in-experienced 22 y/o from AA up to close major league games.
