Corey Kluber, has shown clear potential to become the next big thing. Becoming a strike out artist for the Indians seems to be exactly what the team needs, but Kluber clearly “doctored” his style last week in Arlington in the 5-2 win against the Rangers that is seemingly bringing the Indians out their slump. Kluber has posted impressive strike out numbers and has given the Progressive field strike out girl a real work out. Kluber took advantage of the also slumping Rangers lineup using his impressive slider and his killer cutter to generate ground balls after infield pop ups to lead the Indians to a slump busting victory. Although his stats only read three strike outs, in eight innings, Kluber created 14 outs on the ground, including 10 of those 14 in the first four innings. “I’m sure [The Rangers] looked at him and said, ‘Hey, this guy has really good secondary stuff. Don’t let him get ahead of you because he’s going to wipe you out.’” Indians pitching coach Mickey Callaway said after the win. Heading into the game last Tuesday, Kluber was one of the top strike out leaders in the  American League over the last month. Between May 15 and June 10, which was five starts for Kulber, he accumulated 11,33 strike outs per nine innings Stats wise, Kluber is 4-4 with and ERA of 4.08. He’s worked for 57 strikeouts and has only 12 walks over the 57 1/3 innings he has pitched so far this season. His sttike to walk ratio is 9th in the Al, and his almost 9 strikeouts per nine innings has him ranked 12th in the majors. Those numbers aren’t terrible, but they aren’t Cy Young award winner numbers. The potential is there, he needs to get the back up that he deserves. Callaway has remarked at the continues improvement in Kluber’s pitching and his ability to make adjustments on the fly. Hopefully the continued support in Kulber will increase his numbers as the season goes on.
