The Minnesota Twins have added depth to their starting rotation. Kevin Correia
The Twins have signed Kevin Correia to a two-year, $10 million dollar deal. He comes to the Twins from the Pittsburgh Pirates.
He had a 4.21 ERA in 171 innings this past season in PNC Park, but now will be moving to the pitcher-friendly Target Field. Before signing with the Twins, he was offered contract proposals by the Rockies, Orioles, Brewers, Royals and a team in Japan.
He was 12-11 in 28 starts last season. He gave up 80 earned runs with 46 walks in the 171 innings.

Twins sign Kevin Correia to nonsensical two-year deal
When I think of impact moves for the 2013 season and beyond, the Twins giving Kevin Correia $10 million over two years is near the bottom of my list of all of the transactions that have happened this winter. I can't even sit here and pretend that signing Correia makes the Twins a better team, because quite frankly, it really doesn't.
The 32-year old Correia is coming...
North Correia: A Free Agency Story
The MLB Winter Meetings have ended. There were a lot of moves made and our Twins were in thick of it by making trades and offers to free agent pitchers for them to turn down. Then, the totally thinkable happened: an average to below average starting pitcher that literally never misses bats (well, 5.7% of the time he does) signed a two year deal. Welcome to the North, Correia...
Reports: Twins, Correia agree on two-year deal
Bringing in help for a rotation that struggled in 2012, the Minnesota Twins agreed to terms with free agent right-hander Kevin Correia late Monday, according to multiple media reports. Correia, 32, reportedly landed a two-year, $10 million deal. In each of the past two seasons, Correia went 12-11 for the Pittsburgh Pirates, making the National League All-Star team in 2011. This...

Pirates still looking for pitching
General manager Neal Huntington readily admits the Pirates probably made their biggest splash of the offseason when they signed free agent catcher Russell Martin.
Jason Grilli Returns to Pirates on a Two Year Deal

I assume this time it’s real, unlike last Thursday which was full of “he’s signing”, followed by Grilli denying each report. I only assume...
Bucs Re-Sign Jason Grilli to Two-Year Deal
Ken Rosenthal is reporting that Jason Grilli has (for real this time) re-signed with the Pirates for two years pending a physical. Terms have not yet been disclosed.
Also, this might be a first:
Grilli preferred Pirates. Turned down slightly bigger offers elsewhere to stay.

Grilli has been superb for the Pirates since his acquisition...
Fare thee Well, Ben Revere
The Twins, taking my advice and not standing pat, continued making moves at the Winter Meetings to improve pitching in the organization, a desperate and drastic need, this time shipping out Ben Revere to the Phillies for a couple of young arms, and in a Shyamalanian twist the return they got for him looks more impressive than what they got for his predecessor (mentor? elder?) Denard...
Pirates, Grilli agree to two-year deal
The Pittsburgh Pirates have agreed to bring back free-agent relief pitcher Jason Grilli on a two-year deal. Grilli gets $6.75 million total in the deal.
Pirates Have Shown Interest in Shin-Soo Choo
An interesting note from Jayson Stark today:
Also heard from 2 execs that #Pirates were one of teams on periphery of 4-team trade talks at winter meetings. Had interest in Shin-Soo Choo
— Jayson Stark (@jaysonst) December 11, 2012
That four team deal seems dead, considering James Shields has already been traded. Shields was one of the big names mentioned in the trade, and was...
Jason Grilli is back
According to Ken Rosenthal, Jason Grilli will be re-signing with the Pirates (for real this time). It’s a two year deal worth $7 million, pending a physical.
Grilli is 36 and didn’t have a great second half in 2012, but he has been a valuable part of the Pirates’ bullpen since Neal Huntington snatched him from Philly last summer. In 2012 he was quite effective as an 8th inning...

Pirates Sign Jason Grilli to a Two-Year Deal
The Pittsburgh Pirates are bringing back Jason Grilli. Grilli spent the last two seasons in Pittsburgh before becoming a free agent. The Pirates allowed him to test the market before ultimately bringing him back.
