5. Jose Valverde Breaks Records: Pap Grande as they call him, Jose Valverde broke two records this year. The first record he broke was the most consective saves in Tigers franchise history. He would pass former Cy Young and MVP Willie Hernandez, who saved 32 straight in 1984, with 49 straight saves of his own. Valverde also beat Todd Jones for most saves by a Tigers closer in a season.
6. Raburn and Cabrera Homer in the 9th: On Setember 3, the Chicago White Sox were batting for their lives. Coming into the series 5.5 back and floating at .500.
